Northwest Ohio Fishing Report – March 1st, 2013

Indian Lake (Logan County)

Indian had opened up as of Feb. 19, according to the folks at Lakeside Bass Pro Shop. Anglers are finding alternatives, however. Some fishermen fishing south of the dam are catching a few crappies and saugeyes, but nothing of any real size to report. A group of fishermen were also targetting the Blackhawk area for crappies and perch.

Maumee River (Lucas County)

Gary Lowry reports on the Maumee Bait and Tackle website that northern pike are on the move in the river. He also reports that a warm rain could push walleyes up into the river system. Steelhead fishing from Vermillion on east has picked up, the bait shop reports. Spawn sacs, tube jigs, and Mini Foos have been reportedly making for good catches of trout.
