No vote on state's gun control bill

Ralph LoosSenators did not take final votes on  gun control measures before leaving Springfield on Thursday, meaning the issue likely won't be re-visited until the spring session.

Lawmakers said the failure to call the gun bill was due to multiple absences.

Gun rights supporters at the Capitol Thursday said the bill, which includes an assault weapons ban, would outlaw the sale of far more guns than military-style assault weapons. A second bill to ban the sale of large-capacity ammunition magazines would be unworkable, they noted.

Seen as a temporary victory for gun rights, the delay allows more time to prepare for the coming session. There will certainly be plenty to argue about this spring.

Which brings us to a point: I'm curious about what readers of Illinois Outdoor News feel about the gun control effort. Shoot me your thoughts at ralph@outdoornews.com
