Irish Hills Area

There was no safe ice in Jackson County last week, but ice was forming on some of the smaller lakes. The deer-hunting season started off pretty good, but faded after Thanksgiving. Coyote hunting has been fair.

Lake Orion

Skim ice was starting to form on some of the smaller lakes in Oakland County last week, but no fishing was taking place. A couple steelhead have been caught in the Clinton River. The deer season was decent. Predator hunting has been fair.

Sturgis Area

There was no safe ice last week in St. Joseph County. Deer hunting ended on a good note. Predator hunting has been fair and should improve with a little snow on the ground.

Kalamazoo Area

There was no safe ice in Kalamazoo County last week, but it was getting close. Steelhead and walleyes have been caught in the Kalamazoo River below the Allegan Dam. A few steelies were being caught in Lake Michigan off the piers at St. Joe. The whitefish action has slowed. Predator hunting has been pretty good.
