The small lakes and some bays have skim ice, but the big lakes remain open. Water temperatures are cold enough it’s just a matter of getting a stretch of cold, calm weather and the lakes should cap.

Skim ice has formed on most of the small lakes and bays, but it comes and goes with the wind and warmer, daytime temperatures. Another stretch of cold weather is needed before walkable ice takes hold.

There’s ice around the edges of most lakes and most access points are locked up, but there’s still open water. There’s too much ice to put a boat in and not enough to walk on.
