DULUTH AREA
Deer registrations are down about 30 percent from last year and many hunters reported that buck activity was minimal. Some say it was the slowest opening weekend in several years and there was one wolf brought in to be weighed. Fishing pressure has been nonexistent this week, and there was some skim ice forming on the small ponds overnight.

LAKE KABETOGAMA
Fishing reports have been limited including those netting whitefish. Water temperatures are in the 30-degree range and some shoreline ice forms at night. Deer hunting is comparable to last year with few bucks being taken and a lot of does and yearlings being spotted. The biggest buck registered weighed 205 pounds, and no wolves have been registered.
