Conemaugh River Lake (Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland counties)
A 34-inch northern pike was reported in recent weeks, along with some largemouth bass just shy of three pounds taken on soft plastics. A brown bullhead catfish measured 15-plus inches. Carp also were reported.
Kiskiminetas River (Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland counties)
Good smallmouth bass action was reported, with creature baits and other soft plastics productive. The occasional walleye was reported.
Loyalhanna Lake (Westmoreland County)
Bass were hitting on a variety of baits, but sizes were small to average. Crappies were under 9 inches and hitting on minnows or curly-tailed jigs.
Ohio River
Nice numbers of smallmouth bass and catfish were reported, with the bass hitting tubes and rubber crawlers, and the catfish coming on nightcrawlers and store-bought catfish bait. Under-bridge areas were hot spots.
Raccoon Lake (Beaver County)
Decent-sized panfish were reported but the bass bite was generally slow.
Glendale Lake (Cambria County)
A few walleyes were reported in recent weeks, along with some nice bass.
Wilmore Dam (Cambria County)
Crappies and some bass were reported. An algae bloom has started in the back of the dam.
Lake Rowena (Cambria County)
Excessive weed growth was a hassle for anglers by Labor Day.
