Southwest Minnesota Fishing Report – August 17th, 2012

FAIRMONT AREA

CowGirls are raising muskies on shallow weedlines of Fox Lake and crappies are on the weedline out to 10 feet. Minnows are producing perch in two to four feet at North Silver Lake, while lakes Hall, Budd, and Sissiton are giving up crappies in eight to 12 feet.

ORTONVILLE AREA

Look for perch and bluegills in 10 to 12 feet in the Rocky Ledge, Grapevine, and Manhattan Reef areas of Big Stone Lake. Walleye action has picked up on the south end of Big Stone with crankbaits in 10 to 12 feet. Hit the rock piles on the north end of Lake Traverse for walleyes and bluegills.

WILLMAR AREA

Panfish, bass, and northern pike action remains strong in six to 12 feet on lakes Andrew, Games, Florida, Nest, Eagle, and Diamond. On Green Lake, walleyes can be had during the day with crawlers in 20 to 27 feet or during low-light periods with crankbaits in eight to 15 feet.
