Idaho's Southwest Region Fishing Report August 13, 2012

This report highlights a few of the best places to fish, what anglers are using and what they are catching. The information is compiled from regional Fish and Game fishery managers, local tackle shops and anglers.

Recommendations: Both the Boise River in town and the South fork of the Boise River are still fishing well. Grasshoppers, caddis and bead head nymphs are choice flies. An angler reported the South Fork of the Boise River was extremely smoky Sunday, August 12

Many areas are very smoky or not accessible due to wildfires. Please check the Incident Information System website.

Fires include the following locations:

•     Trinity Ridge fire in the Boise National Forest 7 miles northwest of Featherville affecting the Middle Fork and North Fork of the Boise River.
•     Springs fire in Boise National Forest 5 miles west of Garden Valley.
•     Halstead fire in the Salmon-Challis National Forest 18 miles northwest of Stanley.
