Ohio River Region Fishing Report – June 22nd, 2012

Greenup Dam (Scioto County)

Power generators for the turbines have been shut down over the past week, allowing anglers the chance to get up closer to the dam in calmer waters. Decent catches of catfish have been reeled in using cut bait in this area. Anglers are also catching saugers, white bass and hybrid striped bass. Minnows have been the popular bait choice lately, but artificial baits can be successful as well. Try a white jig with a 3-inch twister tail fished along the concrete walkway and the riprap off the tailwaters.

Meldahl Dam to Cincinnati (Clermont and Hamilton Counties)

Channel catfish are being taken in good numbers all along the river. Try chicken livers, shrimp, or nightcrawlers fished on the bottom.

Bellville Pool Area

The tried and true baits and lures are catching fish. Anglers are having success catching hybrid striped bass and catfish using chicken livers and nightcrawlers. Catches of smallmouth and spotted bass have also been pulled in using jigs and spinner baits.
