Northeast Minnesota Fishing Report – June 15th, 2012


Walleyes are hitting chubs and leeches in six feet at Rice Lake, in 15 to 17 feet at Boulder Lake, and in 25 to 35 feet at Island Lake. Look for bluegills on the two- to four-foot rocks of Fish Lake and Island, while largemouth bass remain active in the weeds of Fish. The St. Louis River and Island are producing smallmouth bass in five to 14 feet and reports off Lake Superior are limited.

Leeches or crawlers are turning walleyes in 15 to 25 feet at Basswood Lake, Fall Lake, and Birch Lake. Crappies are being pulled from 12 to 15 feet at Birch, while numbers of small northern pike are being taken with minnows and spoons in 15 to 20 feet at Fall, Basswood, and Birch. A few lake trout can be had with spoons or ciscoes over 50 feet at Burntside Lake and Snowbank Lake.
