Indian River

Fishing has been slow and fishing pressure light on Burt and Mullett lakes. Ditto for turkey hunting.

Traverse City Area

Walleye fishing has been good on South Lake Leelanau. Jigs and leeches or crawlers are taking fish in 8 to 15 feet of water. A few lakers are being caught on East Grand Traverse Bay in 35 to 110 feet of water. Turkey hunting remains pretty good.

Cadillac Area

Bluegills are moving into the shallows on lakes Cadillac and Mitchell. Crappies also are hitting on both lakes, and bass are hitting everywhere and everything. Pike fishing has been good, too, with lots of fish in the shallows. Fair numbers of walleyes are hitting after dark in the shallows on both lakes. Master Angler-sized bullheads are hitting at night. Turkey hunting has been slow.

Houghton Lake Area

Bluegills, sunfish, and crappies are keeping anglers busy on Houghton Lake. Leaf worms and leeches drifted in 7 to 8 feet of water are catching good numbers of fish. Walleye fishing has been fair. Jigs tipped with leeches or crawlers are taking fish along the weeds. Pike fishing has been good, but most are on the small side.

Higgins Lake Area

Perch fishing has been good on Higgins Lake, but fishing pressure has been light. Good numbers of jumbos have been caught along the drop-off in 50 feet of water. Turkey hunting has been pretty good.

Hubbard Lake Area

Walleye fishing has been good on Hubbard Lake. Anglers fishing with stickbaits behind planer boards are catching fish in 6 to 15 feet of water. Pike fishing has been good in the shallows on large sucker minnows. Perch fishing has been fair, but smallmouth bass fishing has been good. Turkey hunting has been slow.
