Slots Still Open for Free Workshop Combining Fishing and Kayaking in Fayetville, NC
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (April 9, 2012) — A few openings remain for the inaugural Kayak Fish and Float Workshop, which will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville.
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is hosting the free workshop, along with the Great Outdoor Provision Company and Get Outdoors of Greensboro. Both companies will provide their demo fleets of popular kayak brands for participants to use during the day.
Mark Patterson, of the N.C. Kayak Fishing Association, and Capt. Jerry Dilsaver will lead the workshops and how-to seminars on kayak safety and rigging, inshore kayak fishing, and kayak fishing for bass, mackerel and assorted panfishes.
While the workshop is free, participants must pre-register and pay a refundable fee of $25. The fee is refunded in full after the participant completes the course.
“We’re requiring the pre-registration fee to estimate attendance in advance and prepare for the workshop,” said Tom Carpenter, a fisheries technician with the Commission and workshop coordinator. “But the event was always meant to be free, which is why we will refund the $25 to everyone who attends.”
To register, or for more information about the workshop, call Carpenter at 910-868-5003, ext. 15, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the Kayak Fish and Float workshop, the Pechmann Center is conducting 12 other fishing-related events, clinics and workshops in April and May, which are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. Click here for a schedule.
