Buckeye Lake (Fairfield, Licking and Perry counties)
Anglers took advantage of unseasonably warm weather for a good crappie bite near North Bank, using small jigs and minnow combinations. Crappies are also being taken behind the park office in the conservation channel and the crappie and saugeye bite has been decent at Fairfield Beach. Crappies have been averaging about 9 inches with the saugeye coming in between 15-18 inches. Small jigs in the 1⁄64-1⁄80-ounce range fished under bobbers is producing the best bite, said Bob Mathie of Bob’s Outdoor Supply.

Piedmont Lake, Leesville Lake (Belmont, Harrison, Guernsey counties)
A few muskies are being taken at both Leesville and nearby Piedmont Lake. Saugeye have been caught on blade baits and lead spoons fished near the bottom at Piedmont. Lake levels at Clendening, Piedmont and Atwood are less than two feet below summer pool and most ramps are useable. The largemouth bite at Tappan Lake has been excellent, with successful anglers using crankbaits with slow retrieves in 3-6 feet of water.
