SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Outdoor Campus East (TOC) in Sioux
Falls gets an update this month.
The Outdoor Campus, the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks
Department’s free education facility that is dedicated to getting
people outside, has displayed the same museum exhibits to its
visitors for the past 15 years, but by mid-December its new
exhibits will be ready, said TOC Director Thea Miller Ryan.
“It’s all designed for imaginative play,” Ryan said. “Kids can
pretend they are camping or be a fisheries biologist and explore
the inside of a fish.”
TOC ‘s update includes a 16-foot largemouth bass for people to
walk through, a replica tree snag with interactive games, and a
camping scene complete with fire pit and tent. The new museum also
includes a canoe and bow hunter exhibit.
TOC’s museum will remain closed until renovations are
completed.
