SD: Snake Creek Recreation Area Offers Nature Camp for Kids

PLATTE, S.D. – Snake Creek Recreation Area near Platte will host
a nature day camp for kids ages 8-12 on Wednesday, June 22.

June has been proclaimed Great Outdoors Month by Gov. Dennis
Daugaard, and the camp is a great opportunity for kids to explore
the surrounding recreation area and focus on the outdoors.

The theme of the camp is Everyday Nature. Kids will learn about
different aspects of nature by exploring the park.

The day camp will run from 1 to 4 p.m. CDT.

Kids should wear clothing appropriate for the weather, and also
bring bug spray, drinking water and comfortable walking shoes. No
snacks or refreshments will be provided, but kids are welcome to
bring their own.

Registration is required for the camp and can be made by calling
Snake Creek Recreation Area at 605-337-2587. The event is limited
to 45 kids.

There is no fee for the camps, but a park entrance license is
required.

Snake Creek Recreation Area is located 14 miles west of Platte
