IL Hunters Bag More Than 68,000 Deer Opening Weekend

According to the Illinois DNR, state deer hunters bagged 68,037
deer on opening weekend of firearms season.

The total is higher than last year’s opener, when 66,126 deer
were killed. But it’s a bit behind opening weekend, 2008, when the
kill was about 72,000 deer.

Pike County topped the list this year with 1,957 deer.

The seven-day firearm deer season wraps up Dec. 2-5.
