Wisconsin Hunter Bags Two Bucks with One Arrow

HIXTON, Wis. (AP) A lifelong hunter from Jackson County,
Wisconsin can claim bragging rights on this hunt.

Rodney Hurst of Hixton bagged two bucks with one methodical shot
from his bow.

Hurst says one of the bucks actually did the work for him. Hurst
spotted a 10-point buck and a 12-point buck locked in battle. The
smaller buck won the fight, killing the 12-pointer in the process,
but was unable to free itself from the deceased deer.

Hurst says he quickly called Wisconsin DNR to ask whether he could
keep them both if he shot the survivor. DNR told him the bonus buck
was his for $42.50. Hurst later told WEAU-TV he “kind of thought it
was a mercy shot,” because of the circumstances.
