Lake St. Clair
Muskie fishing has been very good off the weather buoy in the
middle of Lake St. Clair. Walleye anglers report a good bite at the
Dumping Grounds and a few perch are being caught, too. Smallmouth
bass fishing has been very good all over the lake.

Pontiac Area
Fishing has been good in Oakland County. Fish have generally moved
to deeper water. Bluegills and crappies are hitting on Oakland and
Maceday lakes. Bass fishing has been very good on Cass, Oakland and
White lakes in 10-15 feet of water. Pike fishing has also been good
on Cass.

Trenton Area
The walleye bite is good on the Detroit River. Handliners are
picking up fish late at night on the American and Canadian sides of
the river. Jiggers using both plastics and live bait are catching
fish at Wyandotte.

Edwardsburg Area
Bass are hitting lizards and topwaters on Lake of the Woods.
Bluegills and crappies are hitting on Diamond Lake. A few walleyes
are being caught in the St. Joe River. The early morning, late
evening and night bites have been best. Perch fishing has been
spotty on Lake Michigan. One day the fish are in 12-15 feet of
water, the next they may be out in 40 feet.

Union Area
Extremely warm, wet weather has kept fishing pressure to a minimum.
A few bass and some panfish are being caught on Birch, Shavehead,
Cory, Long and Pleasant lakes.

Kalamazoo Area
Fishing has been pretty good in Kalamazoo County. Bluegills are
suspended over deep water on Scott, Finch, Cora, Gull and North
lakes. Good action has been reported over 18-25 feet of water. Pike
are hitting on Huzzy, Long and Gun lakes. The best action has come
on deep-diving crank baits and large swimbaits fished in 15-20 feet
of water. Bass are hitting on Portage, Eagle, Pine and Swan lakes.
Rat-L-Traps, topwater and wacky rigs have all taken fish. Kings up
to 22 pounds are hitting in Lake Michigan in 70-100 feet of water,
60-65 feet down. Flies and glow J-plugs are taking good numbers of
fish.

Grand Rapids Area
Bluegill and bass fishing has been good in Kent County. Anglers
fishing along the weedbeds in 6-12 feet of water report catching
fair numbers of ‘gills on Reeds and Jordan lakes. Bass are also
hitting on Reeds and Jordan. Early morning topwater action has been
good.

Saginaw Bay Area
Walleye fishing has been slow on Lake Huron’s Saginaw Bay. Anglers
trolling around Au Gres at the north end of the bay report good
action. Perch fishing has been good with lots of fish being caught
at the Spark Plug.

Baldwin Area
The Pere Marquette River is running low and clear and the water
temperature was hovering in the mid-60 last week. A few salmon have
started to trickle into the river. A few more fish have moved into
the Little Manistee. Bass fishing has been decent on Wolf, Big Star
and Idlewild lakes.

Weidman Area
Fishing has been good in Isabella County. Anglers are catching bass
and pike on Lake Isabella and Coldwater Lake. Walleye fishing is
starting to pick up, too. Bluegills are hitting wax worms and
crickets on the Martiny Chain, Five Lakes and Lake Isabella.

Muskegon Area
Fishing has been slow at Muskegon. Walleye have moved so deep no
one can find them, the bluegills bite has shut down and salmon
fishing has been slow on Lake Michigan.

Ludington Area
High winds have made it tough to get out on Lake Michigan, but the
winds have brought cooler water into shore. Good numbers of chinook
salmon are hitting in 40-80 feet of water when anglers can get
out.

NORTHERN LP
Indian River
Walleye fishing is picking up on Burt Lake. Crawlers fished behind
bottom bouncers are taking walleyes in 40-45 feet of water. Fair
numbers of perch are hitting minnows on Burt and Mullett lakes in
15-20 feet. Bass fishing has been good on both lakes. Steelhead
fishing has been decent on the Sturgeon and Pigeon rivers.

East Jordan Area
High winds have kept anglers at bay in Charlevoix County. A few
walleyes are hitting on Lake Charlevoix. Anglers drifting jigs and
crawlers are catching fish in 18-25 feet of water in the south arm.
Salmon fishing is improving on Lake Michigan but the fish are
scattered. A decent bite has been reported 90-110 down in 150-250
feet of water.

Traverse City Area
Salmon are showing up in East and West Grand Traverse Bays. The
fish are hitting spoons 65 feet down over 110 feet of water.
Walleyes are hitting crawlers fished on South Lake Leelanau in 25
feet of water. A fair number of brown trout are hitting in the
Boardman River.

Cadillac Area
Fishing has slowed a little with the hot, windy weather. Bass
fishing has been pretty good on lakes Mitchell and Cadillac, and
fair numbers of crappies were hitting early and late. A few
good-sized sunfish have been caught in 10-20 feet of water.

Walleye fishing has been great on Houghton Lake. Anglers drifting
nightcrawlers are finding fish in 6-8 feet of water. A few
bluegills are being caught on the weedlines.

Higgins Lake Area
Perch fishing is picking up on Higgins Lake. Anglers fishing
minnows in 18 feet of water over the north sunken island report
good results. A few perch are being caught on the sand bar. Rock
bass action has been great and lakers are hitting in 80-100 feet of
water. Smelt and spoons are both producing good results.

Oscoda Area
Perch, bluegill and sunfish action has been good on VanEtten Lake.
Smallmouths are hitting in the AuSable River and on Foote and Cooke
dam ponds. Lake trout fishing has been good on Lake Huron in 100
feet. Kings are being caught “here and there” and a few pink salmon
and steelhead are being caught.

Hillman Area
Walleye fishing has been good in Lake Huron’s Thunder Bay. Anglers
drifting or trolling nightcrawlers in 10-12 feet of water report
the best success. A few catfish have been caught at the mouth of
Thunder Bay. Pike and bass fishing remains pretty good on Fletcher
Floodwater. Splake fishing has been good in 50 feet of water on
Lake Avalon. Jigs and minnows have produced the best results.

UPPER PENINSULA
Pickford Area
Walleye fishing is good on the St. Marys River and in Raber Bay.
Crawler harnesses and bottom bouncers fished along the ledges in
Raber Bay have produced fish. River anglers are trolling crawlers
along the shipping channel. Perch, pike and bass fishing has been
good in Lake Huron.

Anglers are still catching perch at the Yacht Haven Marina. Minnows
are best. Bass, pike and occasionally a walleye are being caught in
Maxton and Whitney bays. Crawlers and crankbaits are working on all

Lake trout fishing has been good in Lake Superior when winds allow
anglers to get on the water. Anglers report a good bite 5-7 miles
north of the bay in 150-200 feet. Anglers also report a good bite
at Big Reef.

The walleye bite is heating up on Manistique Lakes. Perch fishing
has been decent and a few pike have been caught on Big Manistique.
Decent numbers of bluegills are hitting in 7-8 feet of water on
South Manistique.

Salmon fishing has been pretty good in Lake Michigan off Fairport.
Anglers fishing in 140 feet of water, 120 feet down, report good
success. Smallmouth bass fishing has been very good in Big Bay de

Lake trout fishing has been good on Lake Superior. Anglers fishing
at the Sand Hole are catching fish in 180-200 feet. Good fishing

Walleye fishing has been very good in Lake Michigan’s Big Bay de
Noc. Anglers drifting and trolling with crawler harnesses between
