Moose permit auctions raise $61K in NH, Vt.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) _ Ten people will pay between $4,151 and
$8,600 to bag a moose in New Hampshire or Vermont next fall.

Five moose hunting permits were auctioned off in each state this
week, with proceeds going to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation in
New Hampshire and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department
educational programs.

There were 24 bids from eleven states in New Hampshire. The five
winners ranged from $7,025 to $8,600 and will raise a total of
$39,430.

Vermont had 14 bids, with the five winners ranging from $4,151
to $4,570 that will bring in $21,976.

The New Hampshire moose hunt season is Oct. 16-24 while
Vermont’s is Oct. 16-21.
