Illini West wins high school bass championship

Gusty winds weren’t enough to keep the state’s top high school
anglers off of Carlyle Lake Friday and Saturday – and it wasn’t
enough to keep them from pulling in lots of bass.

The team from Illini West weighed in 10 fish totaling 30 pounds
5 ounces over the two-day tournament to win the second annual
event.

Following are the remaining top 10 teams and their respective
catches: 2. Moline, 10, 25-8; 3. Alden-Hebron, 10, 25-6; 4.
Pinckeyville, 10, 24-13; 5. Bethany Okaw Valley, 9, 22-8; 6.
Rockford Christian, 10, 21-8; 7. Monticello, 6, 21-1; 8. Gibson
City-Melvin-Sibley, 8, 20-14; 9. Bradley-Bourbonnais, 8, 20-11; 10.

The big bass award went to Travis Wilson of Carthage for his
