WVa hunters preparing for new fall deer season

Charleston, W.Va. (AP) – The West
Virginia Division of Natural Resources is urging hunters to start
preparing for the state’s new early fall deer seasons.

In the past, hunters had to wait until October to get out into
the woods and fields. This year a five-day early archery season
will run from Sept. 14 to the 19th.

An early muzzleloading gun season will run from Sept. 21 to
Sept. 26.

DNR Director Frank Zezioro (JEZ’-uh-roh) says because warm
weather is possible, hunters should take special efforts to ensure
their kills don’t spoil. He suggests hunters keep bags of ice on
hand to keep the meat cool.

Hunters will need to purchase special stamps if they wish to
hunt in September.
