VT. man pleads no contest in son’s hunting death
St. Johnsbury, Vt. (AP) – A man who accidentally shot his
17-year-old son to death while they were turkey hunting pleaded no
contest to involuntary manslaughter Tuesday under a plea agreement
that calls for a three-year deferred sentence.
That means Kevin J. Kadamus, 45, will not serve jail time unless
he violates probation over the next three years.
Kadamus was charged in the May 1 shooting death of Jacob Kadamus
who police said had strayed into the area where his father was
hunting and was fatally shot.
Prosecutor Lisa Warren called the plea agreement a fair
disposition under the circumstances.
