Seven counties cut from late-winter deer hunt, one added

DNR deer program manager Tom Micetich offered some news this
week when he said seven counties will be dropped from the list of
those offering late-winter hunts this coming season.

Dropped are Lee, Jasper, Franklin, Washington, Williamson,
Jackson and Massac Counties.

“They each fell below the task force’s goal for vehicle-deer
accidents and the need for an additional season to control the herd
was no longer needed,” Micetich explained.

One county will be added to the late-winter hunt: Mason
County.
