Conn. man accused of using lights to hunt deer

Seymour, Conn. (AP) – A Connecticut man has been charged with
using a light to startle deer at night, then hunting them.

Fifty-year-old Gustavao Useda of Waterbury is charged with
possessing jacklight equipment after he was spotted in Seymour over
the weekend.

Jacklighting is illegally shining a light into an animal’s eyes
to kill it. It is illegal to hunt deer at night with a light.
Police say deer tend to freeze when a light is shined on them.

Useda has been freed after posting bond.
