Waterbury, Vt. (AP) – Gearing up for the annual influx of
migrating Canada geese, the state of Vermont has set dates for a
statewide open hunt on the birds.
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board says the hunt – with a
daily bag limit of five in most parts of the state _ will be held
Sept. 8 to Sept. 25.
State wildlife biologist William Crenshaw the hunt is aimed at
thinning the sizable flock of breeding Canadian geese in
Vermont.
The state’s two-day youth waterfowl hunting season is set for
Sept. 26-27.
In it, hunters under 16 can hunt ducks and geese while
accompanied by an adult if both have Vermont hunting licenses and
the adult isn’t hunting or carrying a firearm.
