Devils’ Kitchen: Bass improving on spinnerbaits. Crappies slow
but improving. Bluegills biting in shallows on worms and
crickets.

Crab Orchard Lake: Anglers are taking some crappies in shallow
weedy areas, but others are being caught in 8 to 12 feet. Minnows
and jigs are equally effectively. Bluegills are still on the spawn
and can be caught in shallow areas on a variety of baits. Catfish
are being caught on stink baits and leeches. Bass anglers hauled in
lots of 6 pounders. The most successful anglers were fishing jigs
over shallow cover, wood or weeds.

Baldwin Lake: Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass have been good
on jigs. Catfish excellent on cut bait. Bluegills good on worms.
Crappies fair on minnows.

Carlyle Lake: Crappies and catfish best. Catfish taking shrimp,
leeches, cut shad and shad guts off flooded trees. White bass
hitting tube jigs and twister tails. Crappies slowing but biting on
minnows, jigs, tube jigs by Hazlet State Park. Sauger hit and miss,
if they can be found. Bluegill fishing is fair on worms. Carp
spawning in shallows.

Pinckneyville Lake: Largemouth bass have slowed. Bluegills are
biting on worms in 6 to 8 feet of water. Crappie and catfish
fishing has been fair.

Kinkaid Lake: Bluegills are still on the beds, or just beyond.
Anglers are taking good numbers of fish on wax worms, meal worms,
and crickets. Most fish are running small. Crappies have moved
deeper and scattered, but some fish are still being caught on
minnows and jigs. Catfish are rated good to excellent. Night
crawlers and leeches fished in shallow areas are producing good
catches. Bass action is spotty.

Lake of Egypt: Bass are holding in 15 to 20 feet of water off
the points. Anglers have been reporting some success on deep
running Rat-L-Traps, jigs and soft plastics. The crappies have
moved deeper. Some quality fish are being caught, but action is
generally slow. Bluegills and catfish are rated fair.

Rend Lake: The lake is still more than two feet above normal
pool and water temperature is about 71 degrees. Catfish and
bluegill action is rated good. Catfish are being caught on night
crawlers, shrimp and leeches around rip rap areas. Bluegill action
is good around Nason Point and in the Gun Creek area on crickets.
Crappies are fair in 12 to 14 feet of water over structure. Anglers
are still finding a few fish in the flooded brush.
