Breaking News for

Sportsmen Since 1967

Minocqua/Woodruff Area

With the sun out and wind down last week, surface temps started
creeping up, with many lakes having readings of 60 to 63 degrees.
Largemouth action has been good. There is also a little bit of
evening surface action, with nice fish up to 19 inches reported.
Bluegill action has been good. Mornings were slow, but afternoons
are picking up. Smallmouth bass action is good. Tube jigs and Gulp
Alive leeches are working well. One angler reported 20 smallies one
evening – all on surface lures. Big leeches also are taking nice
bass up to 20 inches along rocky points. Muskie action has been
fair, with the best action coming on twitched crankbaits toward
evening. Walleye action has been poor to fair. A few anglers were
scoring deep (24 to 40 feet) for big fish on crawlers. Trollers on
flowages were having some luck, too.
