Many trout waters in the region are now stocked, and conditions
were generally very good for some early-season fishing. By now,
several streams, including the West Branch of the Ausable River as
well as the Saranac River, should be seeing decent Hendrickson
hatches. Pond anglers are pursuing brook trout with good success,
with some sizeable fish reported and good numbers, too. Lake
Champlain fishing remains fair to good for landlocked salmon and
lake trout.
