Just a reminder that the wildlife management areas in north
central Montana are closed until May 15.
And three on the Rocky Mountain Front – Sun River, Blackleaf and
Ear Mountain – are closed till noon on May 15.
Periodic bouts of warm spring weather have a tendency to confuse
“horn hunters” into thinking the WMA’s are open. They’re not and
anyone caught trespassing on a WMA will be prosecuted.
The areas are meant to give wildlife, primarily elk, a wintering
area free from human presence and keep them off neighboring ranch
land.
