Adirondacks

Lake Eaton in Hamilton County continues to produce nice brown
trout and salmon, including the large surplus broodstock salmon
stocked two months ago from the state hatchery.

In Warren County right now, it’s Brant Lake for brown trout,
fished about 6 feet under the ice with night crawlers, or Trout
Lake for rainbow trout, on night crawlers or white jigs.

Moreau Lake in northern Saratoga County still has some excellent
rainbow trout fishing right now. Small minnows on tip-ups are the
key.

Norm’s Bait and Tackle in Port Henry reports ice fishers on Lake
Champlain at Bulwagga Bay. The perch fishing there has been fine,
with a few incidental lake trout taken as well. Smelt action was
slow at last look from Port Henry to Westport, but that could
change at any time.

Farther south, the panfishing has been excellent in the Crown
Point and Ticonderoga areas. Up at the north end of Champlain,
anglers are catching northern pike on Kings Bay. Yellow perch
fishing is just picking up in some of the other northern bays near
Point Au Roche and Rouses Point.
