St. Lawrence River: Bass fishing has been good in deeper water,
while perch action has also been solid for anglers using worms or
fathead minnows. Walleye fishing has been excellent from Lake
Ontario all the way to Chippewa Bay.
Black Lake: Richard at Chapman’s Sports (315-324-5265) reports
that smallmouth action is still going strong, and should continue
to heat up as water temperatures drop. Bluegill action is also
picking up, and a few crappie and walleye are also being caught.
Not many reports lately on northern pike, but you’ll likely
encounter a few. Early-season goose hunters have also been scoring
well; reports had several hunters tallying their eight-bird daily
limit on several occasions.
