Hayward Area

Fishing has been pretty good. The walleye and bass fishing have
been the two best things going, expecially on the big lakes for
walleyes. The bass fishing has been fantastic for both smallmouths
and largemouths on smaller lakes. The crappie spawn is over with,
but bluegills were still in the shallows last week. Muskie fishing
has been fair to good. It’s starting to get going, but it’s not
great yet. The bite seems to be heading toward bucktails, but don’t
fall in love with surface baits just yet. There has been a lot of
action on jerkbaits and rubber baits. Water temperatures are still
well below normal. It’s not bad fishing, but definitely different
from past years.
