SEVENTH COUNTY HAS CONFIRMED CWD

Another county has been added to the short list of Illinois
counties where

at least one deer has tested positive for chronic wasting
disease.

Stephenson County joins Winnebago, Boone, DeKalb, McHenry, Ogle
and

LaSalle Counties with a confirmed report of CWD.

DNR biologists said today a deer taken west of Freeport tested
positive.

So far,24 new cases have been confirmed since the 2007-08 deer
seasons

began, bring the total of CWD cases in the state to 213. The
numbers by

county are: Winnebago (89 deer), Boone (82), DeKalb (22),
McHenry (16),

Ogle (2), LaSalle (1) and Stephenson (1).
