Baldwin Area

Steelhead fishing has been fair on the Pere Marquette River, but
fishing pressure has been light. Ice is running up to 3 inches
thick on most area lakes. A few bluegills have been caught on Bush,
Idlewyld, and Paradise lakes. Deer hunting has been fair. Hunters
are seeing a lot of does and fawns. There is up to 6 inches of snow
on the ground.

Traverse City Area

A fair number of whitefish have been caught in Grand Traverse
Bay, but angler pressure has been light with high winds keeping
anglers on shore. Most of the inland lakes have frozen over and
anglers are getting out on some of the smaller lakes. Panfish and
pike are hitting on Lake Dubonette, and perch are hitting on
Skegemog and Little Glen. Muzzleloader deer hunting has been
slow.

Manistee Area

Panfish and pike are being caught by anglers fishing on Lake
Missaukee, where ice is running up to 4 inches thick. Steelhead
fishing has been fair in the Manistee River. Spawn and spinners are
taking fish. Deer hunting has been slow. There is a foot of snow on
the ground in the woods.

Cadillac Area

Pike fishing has been very good on lakes Cadillac and Mitchell
where there is up to 7 inches of ice. A few 30-inchers have been
taken. Walleye angles also report a decent bite. Anglers jigging
and fishing with tip-ups are catching walleyes up to 21 inches
long. The best action has been during the last two hours of
daylight. Snow is running up to 6 inches deep. Deer hunting has
been fair.

Grayling Area

Ice is running up to 8 inches thick on area lakes and anglers
are dialing in. Pike and walleye fishing has been pretty good on
Lake Margrethe. The best action has been in the west bay. There is
up to 8 inches of snow on the ground. The muzzleloading deer season
has been slow.

Houghton Lake Area

Walleye fishing has been great on Houghton Lake where there is
up to 8 inches of ice. Anglers fishing in East Bay in the evenings
report a good bite on Swedish Pimples tipped with shiners. Pike are
hitting all over the lake. Suckers and chubs fished under tip-ups
are producing the best results. There is up to a foot of snow on
the ground north of Houghton Lake. Muzzleloading deer season has
been fair.

Higgins Lake Area

Safe ice is still forming on Higgins Lake and anglers are eager
to get started. Safe ice is still a week or more away. Deer hunting
has been slow. There is up to a foot of snow on the ground across
most of the area.

Hubbard Lake Area

Safe ice is still forming on Hubbard Lake and the ice-fishing
season has yet to start. Locals are hoping to get out by this
weekend. There is up to 8 inches of snow on the ground. Deer
hunting has been slow.

Oscoda Area

Pike and perch are keeping anglers busy on Van Etten Lake. Perch
are hitting minnows, and pike are being caught on live bait fished
under tip-ups. A few walleyes also are being caught. Steelhead are
biting in the Au Sable River, with spawn producing the best
results.

Glennie Area

Ice is running up to 7 inches thick on area lakes. Pike and
bluegills are hitting on the impoundments and at the lower landing
on the Au Sable River. There is up to a foot of snow on the ground.
Deer hunting has been slow.
