Watkins, Minn. The Keith and Sheila Landwehr farm, located northwest of Watkins, will be the site of Conservation Tillage Field Day on Tuesday, July 20, beginning at 10 a.m.

Farmers will have the opportunity to see four different tillage systems, side by side, and compare plant populations, weed control, crop residue, and general plant health. Chatfield, Minn. The rescheduled Kids Fishing Contest, sponsored by the city of Chatfield and the Minnesota Trout Association, will be held July 24 at Mill Creek Park, on the northwest end of Chatfield.

Sandstone, Minn. A proposal to abandon Pine County Game Refuge No. 2 was the topic of a public hearing on April 22, 2004. The hearing was held in Cloverdale.

Because of testimony from the people attending the hearing, written comments, and the Pine County Board of Commissioners’ resolution opposing abandonment, the DNR had decided not to abandon the refuge. Instead, the DNR will change the refuge boundary to include only county-owned land. All private land that was previously within the boundary of the refuge
