Knox, N.D. The body of a Minnesota duck hunter missing since last fall has been recovered in a slough near Knox, northeast of Devils Lake, the Benson County sheriff said last week.

Steven Fischer, of Backus, Minn., was presumed drowned after a
boat carrying him and two other men took on water while there were
hunting in October. The other two men, Alan Schloy and Kent
Eveland, both of Backus, made it to shore after about three hours
in the water, using duck decoys as flotation devices, authorities
said.

Sheriff Ned Mitzel said Fischer’s body was recovered by a search
and rescue team on April 14. The body, found about 30 feet from
shore, was sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Bismarck
to verify the identity and cause of death, he said.
