St. Paul Spring wild turkey license notifications for the 2004 season have been mailed and are now posted on the DNR web site at www.dnr.state.mn.us. Hunters who received a permit may now purchase a license at any electronic licensing agent.

Those who applied but were unsuccessful in the lottery may purchase a surplus permit beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 15. The surplus permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Most of the surplus permits are available for the later seasons. A total of 3,146 surplus permits are available in 127 permit areas.

St. Paul Pheasants Forever has announced the promotion of Matt O’Connor as the organization’s first-ever habitat team coordinator. In this position, O’Connor, 46, will oversee the national conservation organization’s 27 habitat teams in 10 states. O’Conn

O’Connor’s primary duties will include overall coordination of the habitat teams across the country. Each habitat team is made up of at least one habitat specialist and the necessary equipment to help landowners accomplish the habitat development requirements of federal farm programs, state private land habitat programs, and individual projects.
