Moeckel has a background in stream ecology and the effects of
land use practices. He earned an M.S. degree in resource
conservation from the University of Montana and a B.S. degree from
San Jose State University.

Moeckel will be responsible for supervising regional trout
fisheries programs in the southeast as well as administering
budgets and coordinating programs with both internal and external
stakeholders. He replaces Mark Heywood, who recently retired.
