St. Paul Minnesota DNR Conservation Officer Dennis Lang, of Perham, was among those recently honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for efforts to prevent drunk and impaired driving.

Lang has been a CO since 1980. He’s now known throughout the
Perham area for his efforts to fight impaired recreational
activities by removing 123 recreational vehicle operators, boat
drivers, and impaired hunters from the roads, lakes, and fields
since 1991.

During the 2002 snowmobile season, 10 people died in 179
reported accidents in Minnesota. Alcohol was a factor in 70 percent
of the crashes, officials say. Two of 10 ATV deaths last year
involved alcohol. And alcohol was listed as a factor in three of
Minnesota’s 30 boating deaths last year.
