Brainerd, Minn. A new fishing group has formed in the Brainerd lakes area, but its founding members are unlikely to boat many fish. Instead, their goal is to help others do so.

Tim Brastrup, chair of the the newly formed Brainerd Lakes
chapter of Fishing Has No Boundaries, said several in the community
had long wanted to support a locally based fishing program for
disabled adults and children. The organization is based in Hayward,
Wis., and now has 14 chapters that host fishing events for those
with disabilities.

The Brainerd lakes event will be held Aug. 1-3. Registration
forms will be mailed soon to local and regional organizations that
serve the needs of the disabled. Acceptance will be on a
first-come, first-served basis, as the event is limited to 80
participants. Volunteers are still needed, Brastrup said.
