St. Paul Property owners returning to their cabins this spring may discover they’re dealing with property damage caused by a phenomenon called “ice heaving” or “ice jacking,” according to the Minnesota DNR.

“This winter’s wide range of temperatures and lack of snow cover have been responsible for the increase in ice activity leading to the shoreline damage,” said Russ Schultz, supervisor of DNR Waters’ Lake Management Program.
