Anyone may nominate a hunter by writing a letter explaining why that person is worthy of this recognition. Both youth and adults are eligible, but nominees must be Minnesota residents, and the ethical event must have occurred during the 2002 season. The MDHA will accept nominations for the ethics award until Feb. 15. Nomination letters

Correspondent Fort Atkinson, Wis. Pheasants Forever did a major favor for southeastern Wisconsin pheasant hunters at the close of 2002, as it bought 2,740 acres of land northeast of Fort Atkinson. The land will eventually be turned into wildlife habitat and donated to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for wildlife and public hunting

The 33rd annual Sportsmen’s Show combines all things sporting, including boats, camping equipment, RVs, and hunting and fishing. Associate Editor St. Cloud, Minn. Under legislation currently being drafted by state agencies, farmed cervids elk and white-tailed deer in Minnesota could become solely regulated by the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. Mike DonCarlos, DNR research manager in St. Paul, said his department now shares responsibility with the BAH to monitor deer and elk farms.
