Watson, Minn. For DNR wildlife manager Dave Trauba, this season’s hunt in the Lac qui Parle Goose Zone again demonstrated the need for a later opener and later closing date to the goose season.

The season ended there on Wednesday. More than 147,000 geese were counted earlier in the week, a count that’s the “highest seen in many, many, many years,” he said.
