Milaca, Minn. DNA analysis of hair samples showed a car-killed black bear recovered shortly after an attack on a University of Minnesota researcher was not the one responsible for the injuries to the researcher.

The attack occurred Sept. 15 at Four Brooks Wildlife Management Area, just north of Milaca. The tested bear was killed on U.S. Highway 169 about 10 miles form the attack site.
