St. Paul A mild winter with little snowfall could mean good fishing conditions when the inland stream trout fishing season opens in Minnesota on Saturday, April 13, according to the DNR.

Catch-and-release fishing with barbless hooks began April 1 in southeastern Minnesota (not including Rice and Dakota counties).
