Feb. 9: Lake Winnebago sturgeon spearing season opens. There are several new rules this year, including shortened spearing hours. Check regulations. The season is set to run through Feb. 25, but could close earlier if quotas are reached.

Feb. 15-17: Becoming an Outdoors-Woman winter workshop will take place at the Treehaven Field Station in Tomahawk. Classes include firearm safety, snowshoeing, winter camping, rifle shooting, dog sledding, lure making, trapping, ice fishing, calls and decoys and more. Shakopee, Minn. The Minnesota Walleye Expo will run Feb. 1-3 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.

The show will feature the latest in walleye fishing gear, including tackle and marine equipment and wildlife art. Seminars will be conducted by fishing professionals such as Chuck Demlow, Ross Grothe, and “Tackle Terry” Tuma, of Outdoor News.
