There are a few open-water anglers who continue to hit the
lakes. White Bear Lake and Lake Vadnais continue to give up
walleyes. The St. Croix River also is worth looking at for
walleyes.

While the fishing front remains quiet, goose hunters are taking
quite a few birds in the area. That seems to be keeping the
majority of outdoor enthusiasts busy at the present time.

Few anglers are fishing. Some are getting a few walleyes on the
Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. Plenty of geese were around yet
for those areas where you should hunt them. There have been more
deer shot by muzzleloader hunters this year. There’s some confusion
about the late goose hunt. For an explanation of the late goose
hunt, see the 2001 Minnesota Waterfowl Hunting Regulations
supplement and page 87 of the 2001 Minnesota Hunting and Trapping
Regulations Handbook.
