St. Paul The Minnesota DNR has determined that an environmental assessment worksheet is appropriate for the planned White Earth Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Trail, and will proceed with one on a voluntary basis.

State law requires EAWs when projects meet certain criteria. The
DNR has determined that while an EAW isn’t required for the White
Earth trail, it should be examined for potential environmental
effects. OHV critics have pushed the DNR to undertake EAWs on all
ATV trails planning.

The EAW on the White Earth trail will cover a 25-mile stretch in
Clearwater and Becker counties. The EAW will be available for
public review and comment early next year.
