Show hours are 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, 3-9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for kids ages 13-16 and seniors (60 and older), and free to kids 12 and under.

Des Moines, Iowa A former state conservationist is Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack’s choice to lead the Iowa DNR.

Jeff Vonk has been the state conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in California since 1998. From 1990-94 he served as the agency’s state conservationist in Iowa. Vonk, whose nomination must be confirmed by the Iowa Senate, would replace Paul Johnson, who resigned last May.
