Metro Area Fishing Report - November 16th, 2012

Posted on November 15, 2012

NORTHEAST METRO

Fishing pressure has been limited to the St. Croix River, where a small number of anglers are catching walleyes and sauger in 20 to 30 feet. A couple bigger bucks were taken during the second weekend, but the harvest is down from last year.

WEST METRO

The second weekend of the deer-hunting season was slightly better than the first with a few bigger bucks in the mix, but the antlerless deer harvest continues to be down. The bigger bodies of water in the area continue to hold fair numbers of northern ducks, but the cold front earlier this week capped some of the ponds and resulted in some of the birds moving out of the area.

LAKE MINNETONKA AREA

There’s a thin layer of ice on the shorelines and bays, so fishing has come to an end with the exception of a handful of anglers dragging sucker minnows around for muskies. Hunting reports have been limited to a few local geese and ducks.

ANNANDALE AREA

The second weekend of deer hunting played out much like the first. Most groups saw plenty of deer – mainly small bucks, does, and fawns. Big bucks were scarce. Duck hunting remains an option with some divers, mallards, and geese using the bigger bodies of water.
